Golden Bomber became a Japanese household name through consistent touring in Japan and by releasing a new song monthly via mp3 through a dedicated site. Kiryuin Sho, Golden Bomber's founding member and vocalist, writes all the music and lyrics and is a multi-instrumentalist. The other band members do not play instruments and only pretend to do so, as Japan's ultimate air band. The 2012 album,The Golden Best, has been customized for overseas release. The concept pays tribute to the 2012 Summer Olympics and each version sports a uniquely-themed tribute to participating countries.
